S3E4: Intentionally Ever After: Healing, Love, and Connection With ZACH & RACHEL LIVINGSTON
For this month on the Healing Sucks Podcast, I wanted to focus on love—specifically, what we can learn from those in healthy, thriving relationships. The guests I have today come from very different backgrounds, each having faced their own battles—one with addiction and the other with PTSD from narcissistic, abusive relationships. After having Zach on my podcast last season, I quickly found myself captivated by their story and the strength of their bond. There’s something so powerful and inspiring in their relationship, and I knew there was a wealth of wisdom I could draw from them, especially in my own healing journey. Recovering from narcissistic abuse has been a long, painful process, and at times, I lost all hope in finding a healthy relationship—one where I could be loved for who I truly am, without fear of control or manipulation. Their story reminded me that healing is not only possible, but that love, real love, is something we can all find if we’re open to it.
In this episode of the Healing Sucks podcast, host Jackey Hall welcomes back Zach Livingston and introduces his wife, Rachel. The conversation explores Zach's journey through addiction, his recovery, and the supportive relationship he has with Rachel, who comes from an abusive background. They discuss the importance of trust, communication, and maintaining a playful dynamic in their marriage, emphasizing the need for authenticity and mutual support in overcoming personal struggles. In this conversation, Zach and Rachel discuss the complexities of their relationship, focusing on authenticity, communication, and the impact of past experiences. They share insights on navigating challenges, the importance of respect and love, and how mental health plays a role in their dynamics. Their candid dialogue highlights the significance of understanding each other's needs and the growth that comes from overcoming difficulties together. In this episode, Jackey Hall, Zach, and Rachel Livingston discuss the complexities of mental health, particularly bipolar disorder, and its impact on relationships. They share personal experiences with mental health treatments, the importance of communication, and the role of creative outlets in managing mental health.
